Job Summary and Qualifications
The Central Sterile Manager providing oversight and direction to the Central Sterile Processing Department. The Manager works cohesively with the Director to develop standards and procedures for providing care and improving quality and efficiencies. They are responsible for promoting strong and effective working relationships with other departments within the facility.
What qualifications you will need:
- Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician through IAHCSMM or CBSPD or graduate of an accredited RN program or surgical tech program required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Central Sterile preferred
- Prior leadership experience highly preferred
- Leadership Certification through IAHCSMM preferred
What you will do in this role:
- Provide Leadership and direction to Central Sterile staff.
- Implement improvements, changes policies and practice on work force initiatives.
- Demonstrate proficiency in infection control techniques.
- Maintain instruments and supplies at appropriate inventory levels to meet department needs.
- Demonstrate ability in using effective interview skills/techniques.
- Maintain knowledge in operations and troubleshooting Central Sterile equipment.
- Participate in and demonstrate compliance with the Patient Safety Initiatives, National Patient Safety Goals (i.e. infection control, hand washing etc.
- Remain actively involved in PI process as applicable to department.
- Assure that all trays and instruments are processed following policy and procedure.
- Comply with all policies/procedures in order to maintain a state of continual survey and regulatory readiness.
- Maintain sterilization records for infection control practice.
- Manage documentation biological report to IC for quarterly reviews per regulatory requirement.
- Audit at least 3 trays per quarter on sterilization process instrument trays and equipment.
- Demonstrate efficiency in all areas of central sterile department.
- Demonstrate efficiency in isolation techniques.
- Keep accurate and complete documentation of all sterilization related information.
- Manage the decontamination, disinfecting and sterilization processes Assists OR staff with trays as needed.
Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
