The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Financial Analyst supports the financial management and oversight of capital projects within Columbia University Facilities and Operations (CUFO). Reporting to the Assistant Director of Capital Finance, the Financial Analyst ensures accurate financial reporting, effective controls, and compliance with University and regulatory standards. This role is pivotal in maintaining financial integrity across assigned portfolios, contributing to strategic financial planning, and supporting key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Financial Management and Reporting
- Assist in managing the capital plan for assigned clients and building/funding portfolios.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to monitor financial performance and key performance indicators.
- Conduct financial analyses, prepare year-end reports, and identify operational trends.
- Funding Authorization and Budgeting
- Manage the funding authorization process, including document tracking, review, and submission.
- Prepare and review project cash flows for submission to the Office of Management & Budget.
- Transaction Oversight
- Provide final approval for financial transactions, ensuring compliance with policies and accuracy of entries.
- Project Management Support
- Oversee reconciliation and closeout of completed projects.
- Address insurance claims with Risk Management and component breakdown reporting for depreciation purposes.
- Collaborate with project managers and senior CUFO staff on financial decisions.
- Audit and Compliance
- Respond to internal and external audit inquiries.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the department's goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor???s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of related experience, including proficiency in budgeting, accounting, and financial analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and statistical analysis tools.
