Technical Expert, Process Metallurgist - Military Veterans

Direct, plan, review and control the Concentrating Technical Services Department in aspects of flotation and concentrate handling processes, mineral research, and continuous improvement projects. Provide technical support and mentor Flotation Metallurgists to safely achieve target Cu/Au recovery at optimum grade within established operating and capital budgets.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate and develop Technical Services Department procedures pertaining mineral separation and provide clear guidance for subordinates in performing their tasks.
  2. Promote conformance with PTFI safety and environmental standards within the Concentrating Division.
  3. Work with counterpart to identify re-occurring non-conformances in nominated metallurgical circuit and develop sustainable corrective measures that agree with operations and maintenance procedures.
  4. Assist national counterpart to ensure corrective action is taken against identified circuit non-conformances in assigned circuit area daily and ensure results are evaluated and reported.
  5. Assign tasks that will enhance the competencies of Metallurgists and ensure that they are held accountable to the required work standard.
  6. Determine strategies to optimize the consumables budget, power consumption and efficiency for the Concentrating Division.
  7. Provide mentoring, coaching, and skills transfer service to support counterpart and national staff in fine grinding, cleaner and pyrite flotation and all thickening aspects of plant operations.
  8. Coordinate with operations personnel, maintenance personnel, consultants and suppliers to evaluate new technologies that will provide continuous improvement in nominated circuit areas.
  9. Manage approved metallurgical improvement projects in assigned circuit area, ensuring the needs of operations and maintenance departments are met.
  10. Liaison with PHX Corporate Strategic Planning group to ensure long-term plans have site input and ownership.
  11. Respond to needs of department managers/division VP and provide technical support as required.
  12. Prepare and review technical reports, to ensure the accuracy of data and timely submission.
  13. Liaison with other site departments to ensure concentrating needs are met on projects which interface across divisional boundaries.
  14. Identify and recommend process and/or equipment improvements to enhance flotation processing performance and reduce costs.
  15. Direct, review and control master list of materials to ensure preparation, maintenance and updating process of master list are running well and in line with the plan.
  16. Direct, evaluate and conduct on job training for subordinates to enhance their knowledge and skill in performing their tasks.
  17. Direct, control and modify, where necessary, environmental and safety standard operating procedures to ensure the procedures are being followed during all related tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience or a minimum of fifteen (15) years field experience in mineral processing plants with proven operational and processing troubleshooting skills.
  • Project management experience with experience and background sufficient to handle multiple continuous improvement projects.
  • Metallurgy understanding and experience in troubleshooting and optimizing circuits.
  • Mineral processing skill and understanding of business processes to maximize value generation.
  • Human Resources management knowledge and experience dealing with multiple cultural impacts.
  • Understanding of mineral processing business drivers, and their relationship to current and future ore processing.
  • Ability to interpret long-term mine plans and their relationship to current and future processing equipment requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Highly proactive and achievement oriented, focused on satisfying customer requirements.
  • Innovative.
  • Positive and proactive attitude.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) and willing to learn Bahasa.
