Hamilton College has long been a leader in higher education, with the Career Center playing a pivotal role in that success. Over the past decade, the Career Center has developed innovative strategies to engage students in meaningful career development. The center pioneered student-to-student outreach and established an assigned career coaching model that provides individualized, consistent support to students throughout their time at Hamilton. More recently, the Career Center has spearheaded the development of Career Communities, an ecosystem connecting students with tailored industry resources and alumni networks. This is a part-time position with a pay range of $25.00 - $28.50, with the ability to set flexible hours. The Career Advisor is a member of an energetic and collaborative team responsible for providing a broad range of services and programs including individualized career exploration, professional skill building, industry-related career advising, educational workshops and presentations, implementation of communication strategies, and signature Career Center events. Reporting to the Director of Career Development, the Career Advisor will provide career development guidance and internship and job search support to students through individual appointments, group workshops, and online engagement. The Career Advisor will work one-on-one to assist their assigned cohort of students in their career development process over their 4 years at Hamilton. The Advisor will also be a part of an engaged and motivated career coaching team responsible for the ongoing structure and content of the Career Center's developmental curriculum. This individual will bring a proven understanding of career advising and student development theories, and demonstrated program planning, organization, and execution skills and an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and problem-solve within a fast-paced office environment. Responsibilities Serve as the primary career coach to an assigned cohort of students Help students assess their skills, interests, and values; work with students to obtain occupational information and explore career interests Collaborate with Career Center staff to ensure the delivery of targeted content for industry-focused career community newsletters, emails, and notices for their coaching cohort Coach students in their search for career-related experiences Develop and effectively deliver skill-based learning as it relates to student career development, job/internship searches, and graduate school applications (e.g. composing targeted applications, interview preparation, and salary negotiation) Help students craft a long-term plan for reaching their career objectives Assist students in leveraging the use of Handshake, LinkedIn, My Hamilton Connect (Hamilton's mentorship platform), and other technology in their internship, job, or graduate school search strategy
