Position Specific Description
This Marketing & Communications Senior Communications Strategist role champions FPL's solar and battery initiatives. This position helps mitigate risk and ensure the successful permitting, development, construction and regulatory approvals of FPL solar energy centers and battery storage projects. It also helps highlight solar programs such as FPL Solar Together - the nation's largest community solar program. The role also helps advance FPL's value story with key stakeholder groups. The ability to craft a persuasive narrative and be strong in visual storytelling is essential, as is solid writing and media relations skills. Understanding of FPL's regulatory landscape is a plus. Travel within Florida could be up to 20% with occasional overnights.
Job Overview
With minimal guidance from a lead or a leader, employees in this role are responsible for providing excellent communication support to assigned business unit as measured by completion of required planning and execution, and client feedback. Employees in this role are responsible for using business and customer insights to support the development and implementation of communication strategies and tactics to improve customer and stakeholder perception as measured by campaign results, which may include media coverage, and brand and message awareness results. Employees in this role will be expected to provide excellent media relations support as measured by media results. This role requires a high performing individual with strong planning capabilities, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports development and execution of strategic communications plans, key messages, programs and campaigns to support business objectives using research/analytics. Creates visual and written content for internal and external channels (newsletters, digital and social media, video, etc.)
- Supports internal business partners on communications strategy and provides executive and communications support. Serves as liaison for assigned business units and serves as project manager for campaigns and cross-functional initiatives
- Drafts media statements/press releases, answers media inquiries, serves as media spokesperson, including afterhours media duty. Proactively builds relationships with the media and seeks out opportunities to tell our company story
- Supports planning and cross-functional execution of events
- Measures results and evaluates the effectiveness of communications and tactics to drive improvements
- Supports emergency events, as assigned
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
- Experience: 4+ years
