Job Overview

 

The US Sales Manager, Energy Sector is IPG & Oldcastle’s direct link to the rapid growth Energy Transition market segment and will focus on early-stage engagement with key stakeholders in the construction value chain including – but not limited to – owners / developers, general contractors & civil engineers. Infrastructure end-markets addressed will include ZEV fleet & NEVI projects, BESS, and renewable energy sources such as wind and solar.   

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop business plans that support IPG’s growth into the Energy Sector market across the US; work with appropriate sales personnel to develop tactical plans to implement district engagement 

  • Implement the sales management process utilizing sales rep business plans, pre-call plans, and post-call coaching debriefs; establish annual sales and gross margin rates for sales reps 

  • Evaluate industry and business trends for potential impact on the district; identify key business opportunities and potential threats within the assigned sales territory. 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers so that the assigned sales territory is properly positioned within the marketplace; provide guidance and support in the retention of profitable business. 

  • Manage Key National Accounts & open new opportunities with the aforementioned stakeholders in the value chain; drive sales from concept to revenue 

  • Project Tracking and Monthly Sales Reporting  

  • Identify Sector Innovation opportunities and work with Market Intel, Innovation & MarCom to drive commercialization of new market solutions 

 

Job Requirements

 

Minimum Education and Experience 

  • 4 year college degree 

  • 5+ years of Technical Sales Experience with a verifiable track record of driving specified sales in the materials industry 

  • 5+ years of managing high performance sales team with a verifiable track record of revenue and profitability growth 

 

Nice-to-have Education and Experience 

  • Degree in civil or electrical engineering 

  • Advanced business degree 

  • Contacts w/in the national construction space with access to key decision-makers in key markets 

 

Competencies and Skills  

 

  • Construction site experience & ability to read civil site plans including electrical schematics 

  • Experience with EV, BESS, and / or renewable site installations - both Civil & Electrical  

  • Ability to manage and motivate tenured sales professionals, via remote coaching & team-leading 

  • Ability to be a “player-coach” 

  • Ability to effectively supervise a remote sales staff and achieve results through others 

  • Ability to make quality fact-based decisions using appropriate information 

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers 

  • Ability to be an effective member of and lead complex project teams 

  • Ability to effectively use standard office applications software 

  • Ability to function in a large, decentralized organization through internal networking & strategic alliance-building 

  • High-functioning ability to navigate public bids and private projects through a complex internal & external ecosystem
