Location: Lafayette, IN

Shift: 645pm-7am; 2-2-3

Pay Rate: $25.16 – $26.78

Job Description

 

The QA Tech operates material testing equipment and/or performs work that clears supplies raw materials and other mixed stock for production. This position will ensure product quality, maintain a clean work area and practice thorough good housekeeping practices.

 

Other job specific duties:

  • Identifying the different types of stock
  • Uses, cleans, maintains and calibrates as scheduled or appropriate: Multimeter, Load Bank tester, and other types of lab equipment.
  • When out-of-specification results are obtained in stock or machine testing, will alert appropriate personnel and assure non-conforming material is restricted.
  • Performs retests, skid tests, and yellow tag testing of materials as necessary.
  • Notifies lab supervisor and/or Department Manager of any stock labeling violations or complaints registered on his or her shift.
  • Basic Housekeeping (Cleaning and making sure that the lab and testing equipment is cleaned daily)
  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D
  • Must be able to read and comprehend technical manuals
  • Mus be able to read and use measuring devices
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
  • Must be able to read, write, and use basic math skills
  • Self-Motivated
  • Ability to work with other employees in a Team atmosphere
  • Entry level electrical experience preferred

 

Working conditions

  • Able and willing to work various shifts from start time to shift end time
  • Must be able to adapt to hot/cold changes in lab temperature
  • Must be able to adapt to unanticipated changes in product orders
  • Able to work in a noisy environment

 

Physical requirements

-Lifting/carrying product weighing up to 25 pounds repeatedly over a 8 hour work period

-Walking or standing most of the time during your 8 hour shift and may also include stooping, bending and squatting

-Occasional odor or dirt—walks through the factory to pick up samples for testing

-Operating testing equipment efficiently and safely

-Keep daily records of test errors
