Job Overview Under general supervision from higher level supervisor, perform master carpentry and painter work; supervise variously skilled carpenters and painters in their respective work. Essential Functions Perform miscellaneous rough and finish carpentry work to include the design, fabrication, repair and installation of cabinets, Formica tops, shelving, walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows, hardware, glass, partitions, dispensers, lock, etc. Hang signs, pictures, bulletin boards, etc. Does skilled bench work. Does miscellaneous shop duties and maintain shop equipment and tools. Plan and inspect jobs, does layouts, etc. Perform miscellaneous skilled painting and patching. Prepare work surfaces and areas by sanding, masking, scraping. Apply paints, varnishes, stains, etc. by using rollers, brushes, and sprayers. Prepare and finish new and old drywall and plaster surfaces. Perform glazing , caulking and ceramic tile work. Maintain housekeeping conditions as prescribed by area. Assist other trades areas as required. Might be required to supervise semi-skilled and skilled trades people; assist supervisor in allocating work assignments and evaluating work performance; training new personnel. Interpret blueprints, estimates costs and orders materials. Maintain office records; prepare requisitions, work orders. Perform related duties based on departmental need. Minimum Requirements Must have an approved certificate from an accredited carpenter apprenticeship program and two years carpentry/painter work experience; or high school diploma/GED certificate and five (5) years directly related work experience. Must have a current, valid Ohio driver?s license with acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements/Work Environment May be exposed to sawdust, dirt, fumes, noise, heights and dangerous power equipment.
