The full salary range for the Industrial Hygiene Specialist is $73,600.00 - $133,200.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $103,400.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs The Industrial Hygiene Specialist develops, recommends, and implements programs, policies, and procedures associated with the recognition, measurement, evaluation, and control of potential health and safety hazards. May provide daily industrial hygiene and safety programmatic support or services. The incumbent will use their broad expertise and skills to contribute and develop advanced concepts, standards, and techniques in support of EH&S and campus objectives and goals. Thorough knowledge and skill in applying and interpreting applicable local, state, and federal regulations and related standards and guidelines. Thorough written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen and skill to communicate effectively in a diverse environment. Strong analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the successful completion of projects within time and budget constraints. Strong skill to appropriately use technology and relevant scientific equipment as required. Key Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities DescriptionPercent Time Develops, implements, and monitors environmental and safety programs, systems, procedures, and training in one or more of the following fields: industrial hygiene, environmental health, pest control, occupational safety, ergonomics, laboratory safety, biosafety, controlled substances, environmental protection, fire safety, radiation safety, hazardous materials control and hazardous waste management (may include shipping). Oversees, implements, and advances the university wide and assists with oversight and implementation of other environmental health and safety programs and procedures related to mold remediation and water intrusion, respiratory protection, exposure assessments, indoor air quality, hazardous waste management, environmental management, lab safety, occupational and construction safety, safety training, HAZMAT emergency support, IH equipment management, wildfire smoke program, and more. 15% Conducts sampling and/or monitoring related to field(s) of expertise. Conducts bulk, air, passive, and active sampling using standardized IH techniques. Is experienced with assessing conditions and determining the appropriate methodology for sampling. Uses IH equipment and scientific methods to investigate workplace health and safety concerns. 15% Performs outreach and communication to organization within relevant field.
