Associate Information Security Engineer - Military Veterans

Stanford's Information Security Office is looking for an Associate Information Security Engineer to work with our small, tightly-knit team on a wide range of security-related projects, helping to protect our digital resources.

Core Duties
  • Analyze security alerts, assess and triage as needed for investigations/incident response
  • Participate in a wide range of security programs and services, building and running security information systems and tools.
  • Handle service-related tickets/slack messages from community members.
  • Promulgate security best practices through automation, education, and collaboration.
  • Maintain familiarity with current InfoSec issues, trends, incidents, tools, and practices relevant to Stanford.


Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree plus three years relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a contributing member of an enterprise-oriented technology team. Prefer at least five years of increasingly technical work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • You're a well-rounded, critical thinker.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset and desire to make things better
  • Deep knowledge of modern information technology systems and strong interest in cybersecurity.
  • Minimum of three years of operational experience in one or more of these fields: systems engineering, deployment/automations engineering, endpoint engineering, authentication, log analysis, cloud administration, or network administration.
  • Prefer working knowledge of SIEM like Splunk or Elasticsearch
  • Prefer experience in large enterprise security environment and cloud security,
  • Python or other software engineering experience is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communications
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Conviction, Curiosity, and Collegiality

Remote Work

This position is eligible for full-time remote work from the U.S and hybrid within the Bay Area. We maintain a remote-work-friendly environment, fully supporting our full-time-remote and hybrid on-site/remote staff. Our team operates on Pacific Time, and we adjust salary based on regions of the country. You may be expected to come to campus, but generally expect that to be no more than a few days each quarter. This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures . The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate.

The expected pay range for this position is $93,020 to $127,284 per annum for remote positions.

The expected pay range for this position is $121,118 to $159,208 per annum for hybrid positions.
