PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Lead a safe, efficient, cost-effective work equipment and vehicle maintenance program within their area of responsibility. Organize and control the resources responsible for the maintenance of work equipment in accordance with regulatory requirements and processes on their area. Supervise and monitor the execution of all repair activities. Provide leadership accountability for inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity and financial metrics.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide track renewal crews with the required parts inventory
- Monitor parts inventory and usage to maintain the supply of parts as per current supply services guidelines and Work Equipment requirements
- Directs and monitors the inventory of crew trailers and work equipment repair facility
- Deliver inventory as required to the various stores in are of responsibility
- Ensure Track Program & Equipment Program crews have adequate parts to support production crews
- Prioritize work equipment repairs, scheduling and directing mechanics to complete repair in the area of their responsibility
- Implement work processes/changes that achieve continuous improvement
- Recommend changes to safety stocks to meet current demands
- Ensure parts are replenished to avoid critical shortages
- Ensures equipment work order management and maintenance records are kept accurate
- Maintains cross functional relationships and ensures clear cross functional working relationships with OEM and regulatory agencies
- Ensures supply of parts inventories are set to correct target levels
- Ensure maintainers are charging out parts to avoid parts issues
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- 5 years' experience in a railway work equipment maintenance environment is preferred
- Demonstrated capability to monitor and record detailed data
- Able to follow a plan and process's to achieve required goals
- Excellent computer skills
- Communicate with multiple suppliers at interpersonal level
- Ability to influence peers, cross functional co-managers and leadership team
- Ability to work with people, with integrity
- Self-motivated - demanding job task with minimum of direction
