This position is located on Roi-Namur on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. It is an unaccompanied position (no family accommodations or pets). Benefits of this unique location include free housing, three meals a day and potential for overseas tax incentives.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance for the ALCOR and MMW radar antenna electro-mechanical systems.
- Electrical work including fabrication, repair, troubleshooting, and/or installation of cable harnesses, control system wiring, power distribution panels, signal and power wiring to individual components or sensors, etc.
- Electrically integrating new or replacement components into existing system.
- Utilizie lock out tag out procedures.
- Participate with fellow engineers on the design and implementation of improvement ad modernization (I&M) projects involving electrical subsystems.
- Proactively provide design inputs or equipment modifications and repairs in areas that would benefit from improvement.
- Climb and work heights up to 50 feet.
- Maintain current spare parts inventory and procure parts as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance performed.
- Support day-to-day operations to meet radar mission requirements.
- Perform occasional shift work to support operational tasking.
- Adhere to Company safety policies, procedures and programs.
- Works with minimal supervision.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of electrical principles and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity using a digital multimeter, current meter, and megger.
- Ability to assist with mechanical maintenance including replacing and servicing electric motors, gear boxes, brake systems; maintaining cooling flow systems; adjusting and inspecting torque values; greasing gears or upkeeping lubrication systems.
- Knowledge of standard electrical/mechanical functions of equipment, including but not limited to pumps, motors, and structural components.
- General computer literacy using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills.
Required Experience
- Associates Degree, Trade or Vocational-Technical School Certification, or equivalent combined education and experience.
- Two or more years of electrical training and/or field support experience working on electro-mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with maintenance and repairs.
- Electrician apprenticeship experience or Journeyman License is desired.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Willingness and physical ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.
- Willingness and physical ability to obtain climber and fall protection certifications on site.
- Willingness and physical ability to work at heights up to 50 feet in a man lift, on a permeant platform, or in a full body harness with tether attached to tie off points.
- This position is unaccompanied.
- Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Garrison located on Roi Namur, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
