Technical Expert, Smelting Anodes and Casting - Military Veterans

This position will be located in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia
Lead the Anodes and Casting team, to provide both strategic and tactical leadership in supporting the technical readiness and safe operations of the plant.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Process Optimization: Lead and advising the technical team in gathering and analyzing the appropriate data of the various unit processes copper smelting and refining processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality, which includes the material handling/feed preparation circuit, hot metal processes, electro refinery, acid plant, and others within the plant.
2. Quality Control: Ensure the final products meets industry standards and customer specifications by implementing rigorous quality control procedures, including copper cathode, sulfuric acid, final slag, gypsum, and copper tellurium.
3. Troubleshooting: Lead/advise the technical and operations team in resolving technical issues, such as equipment malfunctions or process deviations, to minimize downtime and maintain production. Provide advice to Process Engineers, Operations leadership, Maintenance leadership, and other stakeholders within the organization on root cause analyses and improvement measures.
4. Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and compliance with regulatory requirements.
5. Research and Development: Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to recommend and implement improvements in the smelting and refining processes. Proactively seek opportunity to establish a sustainable relationship with local education institutions to conduct long-term research, involving Process Engineers and Chemists within the team.
6. Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior staff and operators to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
7. Environmental Compliance: Lead the technical team to support site compliance to environmental regulations related to emissions, waste management, and sustainability are adhered to during the smelting and refining processes.
8. Data Analysis: Analyze process data and Conduct experiments to identify opportunities for process enhancement and cost reduction.
9. Talent Development. Focus on upskilling and transferring knowledge to local technical workforce in a systematic manner to ensure sustainable technical support to operations.
10. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineers, Metallurgists, and Maintenance personnel, to achieve production targets and resolve technical challenges. Provide opportunities to team members (Anodes and Casting) to contribute and lead projects to improve safe operations.
11. Documentation: Maintain detailed records, reports, and documentation related to the smelting and refining processes for future reference and compliance purposes.
12. Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall plant performance and competitiveness. Provide leadership to process engineers to conduct simulation, surveys, due diligence, concept development of improvement projects. Liaise with Plant Engineering and Corporate Engineering team to proceed concepts to detailed engineering.
13. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
14. Cost Management: Identify cost-saving opportunities through process optimization, waste reduction, and efficient resource utilization. Provide advice and lead on development of cost control tools and systems.
15. Project Management: Lead or participate in process improvement projects related to equipment upgrades, process modifications, or capacity expansion.
16. Asset Integrity: Lead/advise on measures on maintaining the integrity of the various assets within the process, includes such as Flash Furnaces, Waste Heat Boilers, Converter, Anode Furnace, Casting Wheel, etc.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field with ten (10) years of extensive experience in operational and technical leadership in copper smelting and refining.
• High level conceptual thinking skills.
• High level human relations skills, including integrity and loyalty.
• High level of presentation and negotiation skills.
• Highly skilled in conflict management.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree Business Administration (MBA) or similar.
• Twenty (20) years of extensive experience in operational and technical leadership in copper smelting and refining.
