Warehouse Manager - Military Veterans

Canon has a position for a Warehouse Manager with a growing company in Gloucester, VA. We are seeking candidates with relevant experience in the warehouse, material handling and shipping/receiving field with strong leadership skills.
Overview:
Supervise & manage warehouse personnel to ensure an efficient, accurate and orderly completion of the daily picking and packing of inventory while maintaining a neat, orderly and efficient warehouse environment. Will perform an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse. Will manage warehouse action plans while being the onsite single point of contact for the client; ensuring that operational goals and order requirements are met. Ensures that the tracking and recording of equipment hours, that equipment maintenance schedules are followed and employee meetings are conducted.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the computerized inventory program and reporting functions.
- Assigns, monitors & evaluates workflow of the department, including communicating work assignments.
- Develops optimal work schedules to ensure the needs of the customer are met.
- Maintains inventory control of all stores and material received at the Locations Warehouse.
- Reviews all incoming manifests and shipping documents and checks against material received.
- Prepares manifests for departing shipments. Reviews and signs off on all outgoing manifests and equipment departing.
- Monitors & oversees the time-sensitive and accurate sequencing, picking, shipping & or receiving of all merchandise & materials, including ensuring the quality of all inbound & outbound products which includes OS&D management through resolution.
- Responsible for development and monitoring of KPl's & implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
- Creates & implements cost savings though LEAN processes and Kaizen events
- Trains new hires & existing employees on all warehouse functions, including the enforcement of safety procedures in accordance with company policies & procedures.
- Works within budgetary/financial objectives set by manager
- Conducts meetings with staff to assess group's overall status; discuss ideas for improvement and inform staff of new developments.
- Maintains a flexible work schedule including outside normal business hours and after hours on call rotation.
- Communicates with manager, customer and suppliers concerning load & material issues & status, serving as liaison to communicate load, plant, routing issues or concerns between employees at facility & customer & or supplier.
- May assist with sorting and placing materials on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards.
- Receives items within CBPS's receiving procedures and shipping procedures
- Performs 100% material receiving accuracy check.
- Maintains inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing request, recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed through a computer. May also assist in counting of physical inventory.
- Maintains safe & clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and work stations neat; swept, dusted & mopped. Organizes warehouse & work area for orderliness at all times.
- Wears all appropriate safety equipment.
- Other assigned duties as requested.
Safety Accountability:
- Activities are typically wide-ranging as a recognized expert and problem-solver. This applies to all areas of safety management. Demonstrates a detailed knowledge of the safety management systems and procedures within their department.
- Ensures that personal behaviors/work practices are a role model to all and in line with CBPS safety standard.
- Have thorough knowledge of site fire and emergency procedures.
- Participate in all safety drills, meetings, fire and boat drills and safety training programs.
- Contributes to and supports safety tool box meetings etc.
- Participates in multiple reviews of the results from operating tests or changes in work procedures to ensure no negative impact to the work area.
- Leads and pays close attention to "housekeeping," double-checks and takes additional safety precautions to ensure no-one is at risk by their own methods or the work methods of others, and that no team members put others at risk.
- Participates in safety initiatives/committees where appropriate
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by implementing and monitoring security procedures.
EDUCATION:
- Required: HS Diploma or GED. Preferred degrees are in Supply Chain, Business Management, Accounting and Finance or other business disciplines
- LEAN Six Sigma Certification is a plus.
EXPERIENCE NECESSARY:
- Strong background in SAP MM and WM modules with 3 or more years of Warehouse environment utilizing SAP
- Strong background in problem solving in a dynamic team environment
- Manufacturing Experience Required
- Forklift certification per OSHA standards preferred
KNOWLEDGE:
- Requires knowledge of materials distribution and/or logistics processes, methods, and skills related to inventory management.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Advanced knowledge of ERP/WMS (or similar supply chain management Systems) required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience of 5 to 10 years working in a warehouse environment.
- Computer literate and working knowledge of Windows based programs.
- Advanced in using the following MS Office Products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Creating Charts, reports, spreadsheets and templates.
- ERP/WMS Systems Working Knowledge Experience Required.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Ability to work well in teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
