Description:
Provides expertise in support of research projects in engineering, biology, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, etc. Prepares and edits research papers, proposal, and reports. Performs advanced testing procedures and analyses of data. May prepare samples for testing. Performs advanced testing procedure and performs analyses of data. Makes uses of a variety of specialized equipment typical within area of specialization. May contribute to grant proposal development.
Ensures experiments are performed according to specifications. May make recommendations to changes in procedure, processes, or experimental design.
Possesses, understands, and applies an advanced knowledge of a professional natural, physical, or engineering field or multiple fields of specialization to develop unique and new approaches or ideas. Understands and uses research tools and equipment and utilizes effective management techniques.
1. Plans and conducts research in one or more large and complex areas of specialization.
2. Reviews progress of projects. May liaison with other areas of specialization to obtain support or technical expertise for projects.
3. Defines procedures or processes to be used in the experimental processes.
4. May personally conduct important and/or technically complex investigations.
5. Operates with wide latitude for unreviewed action subject only to institutional policies and guidelines and ethical considerations.

Information Science Technology (IST) at the Cullen College of Engineering, is seeking
motivated and talented researcher to join our team. Our lab focuses on
addressing critical security challenges for cyber-physical systems (CPS), Internet of Things
(IoT) devices, autonomous systems, and other emerging smart technologies. We protect
smart systems by developing novel techniques for usable authentication, privacy

The selected candidate will lead an exciting project focused on security and privacy in
Telepresence Systems, including VR, MR, and XR technologies. This project focuses on
integrating sensor data authenticate users and verify the authenticity of surrounding
information in virtual and augmented reality environments. Ideal candidate will:
• Develop and implement methods for real-time user authentication in telepresence
systems using various teleinteraction device sensors.
• Design and evaluate techniques for verifying the authenticity of surrounding
environmental information in virtual reality settings.
• Employ advanced security technologies such as homomorphic encryption and zeroknowledge proofs to protect personal data.
• Create solutions for real-time detection of model tampering, including mechanisms
for identifying and preventing personal data exposure.
• Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at relevant
conferences.
Ideal candidate should possess, understand, and apply a comprehensive knowledge in
area of specialization. Develops understanding and skills to allow for completion of
assignments that cross fields of specialization. Develops leadership and management
skills.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields
2. Prior research experiences related to one or more of the following areas: embedded
or mobile device security, embedded systems applications, machine learning
security, user-centric security and privacy.
3. Experience and proficiency in the following areas: programming languages (C, C++,
Python), embedded systems prototyping, data analytics, signal processing,
academic writing
