Job Description
HII's Mission Technologies Division has an immediate opportunity for a mid-level Systems Engineer on the System Acquisition Engineering Fighters/Bombers Team. The position is within the Fighters and Advanced Aircraft Directorate at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. The selected candidate will provide a full range of systems requirements analysis, system development planning, test and evaluation, and fielding and sustainment planning engineering support in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Defense 5000 Series Adaptive Acquisition Framework guidance and Air Force Instruction (AFI) 63-101/20-101, Integrated Life Cycle Management guidance. Duties may include analyzing and interpreting end user requirements to create system performance specifications and systems requirements documents, reviewing system technical documentation, supporting systems engineering reviews, and drafting systems engineering-related acquisition milestone documentation.
The ideal candidate for this position is self-motivated, quick learner, with an engineering degree and experience with Department of Defense acquisition programs. The candidate must be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative work environment. Most importantly, the candidate must have a strong desire to be part of a world-class team supporting the most advanced aircraft systems on the planet.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Assist in the development of:
- Program Acquisition Strategies
- Acquisition program documentation as identified in Adaptive Acquisition Framework and AFI 63-101/20-101, Integrated Life Cycle Management guidance
- System Requirements Documents, Statements of Work, Performance Work Statements and other Request for Proposal documents
Support:
- Technical evaluation of program proposals
- Identification, analysis, mitigation planning, and monitoring of program risks, issues, and opportunities
- Review and analysis of system technical documentation, test plans and test results
- Systems engineering reviews
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field with 3 years of relevant experience, or, Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field with 1 year of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and model-based systems engineering practices
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities
- Eagerness to learn and stay updated with industry advancements
- US Citizenship and Secret Security Clearance or US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Preferred Requirements
Knowledge of:
- Aircraft systems such as navigation, communications, radar, propulsion, and defensive systems Avionics and/or propulsion systems in support of subsystem definition, development, integration, and testing
- DoD 5000 Series Adaptive Acquisition Framework guidance and Air Force Instruction (AFI) 63-101/20-101, Integrated Life Cycle Management guidance
Experience with:
- Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) development and validation
- Reviewing and/or developing AF Form 1067 (Modification Proposals)
- Fielding new and updated aircraft systems
Physical Requirements
