The Towson University Counseling Center is accepting applications for the full-time position of Assistant Director and Clinical Director. The Assistant Director and Clinical Director will provide psychological services to the university and its students, including clinical, training, outreach and other modalities. This role will also provide collaborative leadership to promote a well-functioning Counseling Center and a healthy campus.

Responsibilities and Duties
Clinical Services Coordination: Works closely with the Director to design the Clinical Services program, establishing assessment and treatment methods, determining service limits, and managing the allocation of resources across clinical services. Leads staff meetings to gather input, reviews policies, and oversees procedures that align with current professional standards. Manages data for Clinical Services and coordinates with other departments that support students, such as the Health Center and Disability Support.
Psychological Services: Delivers psychological services to students and provides consultations to faculty and staff on a routine and emergency basis, including during non-traditional hours as necessary. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, assessment, counseling, treatment, and clinical consultation in individual and group formats. Offers clinical support to students, their families, and the campus community to enhance mental health support. Available on-call for after-hours emergencies related to student mental health needs. Contributes to innovative service delivery efforts at the Counseling Center and adheres to agency standards for case management, documentation, and service parameters.
Collaboration in Counseling Center Management: Partners with the Director and other leadership in guiding and managing the Counseling Center. Serves on relevant management teams within the Center. Provides administrative supervision to assigned Counseling Center staff and oversees outreach planning and implementation. Acts as the Director of the Counseling Center when delegated, ensuring leadership aligns with the Center’s mission and goals. Participates in agency activities such as accreditations and team-building efforts.
Training & Clinical Supervision: Supports the training programs for doctoral interns and externs through seminars and other educational activities. Engages in activities necessary for maintaining the Counseling Center’s training programs. Supervises doctoral interns, externs, and/or unlicensed staff members in their clinical services, professional development, and contributions to the Counseling Center’s training initiatives.
Outreach and Consultation: Delivers outreach programming, including psychoeducation and health education, as part of the Counseling Center’s Outreach Program. Assists with developing recorded and online programs, self-help resources, and Counseling Center website content.
Student Affairs and University-Wide Participation: Contributes to the Student Affairs Division and the broader university mission by collaborating with other departments, attending university events, and serving on various task forces and committees as assigned. Performs additional duties as required.
Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
Master's or Doctoral degree in psychology or related field.
Three years of work experience in a mental health agency.
Fully licensed for independent mental health practice and license-eligible as a psychologist, social worker, or mental health clinician in Maryland.
An expectation for this position is to be fully licensed as a psychologist, social worker, or mental health clinician, and to be fully licensed in their field in Maryland within 6 months of being hired.
Preferred:
Experience in a college or university counseling center.
Previous experience using the Titanium Scheduling system.
Salary and Benefits
Targeted Hiring Range is $92,000 - $100,000 and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
