Job Description: Consumer Loan Officer(Entry)
Location: Medford, OR
Summary
The Consumer Loan Officer Entry role is an entry-level position designed to prepare candidates for a full Consumer Loan Officer role within 9-12 months. This role offers hands-on training in consumer lending, credit analysis, customer service, and collections while providing a pathway for career growth. Trainees will gain experience in evaluating credit applications, marketing loan products, and supporting branch operations. This position includes a potential pay raise of $3-$5 per hour and eligibility for bonuses upon promotion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide customer service via phone, in-person, and electronically, offering solutions and resolving issues.
Conduct collections for past-due loans, including negotiating payment arrangements.
Market loans by inviting customers to apply and promoting optional ancillary products (if licensed).
Process and input direct consumer loan applications, ensuring accuracy and identifying appropriate collateral.
Analyze, evaluate, and develop credit applications, including conducting applicant interviews and verifying financial details.
Make credit recommendations (approve, decline, or counteroffer) under supervision.
Assist with branch operations and participate in projects to meet customer and organizational needs.
Qualifications:
Education: College degree preferred, especially in business, accounting, or a related field. Relevant industry experience (2+ years) may be considered.
Skills:
Strong customer service and rapport-building abilities.
Analytical and critical thinking skills for evaluating financial data.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
Willingness to learn lending regulations, underwriting practices, and marketing techniques.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus.
Experience: Previous experience in credit union banking, underwriting, or financial services is highly preferred.
Work Environment:
Office setting with occasional travel for outside sales or dealership visits.
Role requires sitting, standing, and using standard office equipment.
