2025 PGY1 Community Pharmacy Resident - Military Veterans

Background: A community pharmacy residency is a twelve-month practice-based certificate program that provides the opportunity for accelerated professional growth beyond entry-level professional competence in patient-centered care, pharmacy operations, and leadership. This position exemplifies the mission of the Albertsons Pharmacies to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
Position Purpose: The pharmacy resident divides their time between staffing in the pharmacy, collaborating with the division backstage support team, practicing in affiliated ambulatory care and institutional settings, and teaching at the alliance college of pharmacy.
The pharmacy resident develops competency by working under the guidance of pharmacist preceptors to develop the following core competencies:
- Manage and improve the medication-use process
- Provide evidence-based, patient-centered care and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care
- Exercise leadership and practice management skills
- Demonstrate project management skills
- Provide medication and practice-related information, education, and/or training
- Emerge as a leader in patient care through creation and implementation of new programs and services
- Staff in pharmacy providing services, such as: prescription processing, benefits investigation, inventory management, patient counseling, self-care triage and consultation, immunizations, medication administration, MTM, Specialty Care, diabetes care, and smoking cessation services (also precept pharmacy student interns)
- Independently staff one weekend per month
- Conduct pharmacy site visits with Patient Care Services Managers (PCSM) and Patient Care Pharmacists (PCP) to collaborate in providing direct instruction, coaching, and facilitating pharmacy team engagement in the provision of patient-centered care services and compliance with standard operational procedures Assist with pharmacy team training programs
- Collaborate in conducting community health events and marketing (flu clinics, health screenings, presentations)
- Develop, implement and evaluate an innovative service or enhance existing services
- Provide patient care services in an ambulatory care setting
- Teach classes at college of pharmacy
- Complete teaching certificate coursework
- Develop research study design and analysis
- Precept IPPE/APPE students
Education Level:
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in state or jurisdiction where residency program conducted
- Experience commensurate with requirements of new pharmacy graduates
- Academic performance, knowledge, skills, attitudes, and abilities necessary to achieve the residency program goals and objectives will be evaluated
