Post Doctoral Associate The Center for Veterinary Business and Entrepreneurship in Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a postdoctoral fellow to work with Assistant Professor Matthew MacLachlan on the economics of animal health and veterinary medicine. This fellow will contribute to topics including food systems, consumer behavior, and labor market dynamics. The College of Veterinary Medicine includes over 600 students (including a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Master of Professional Studies (MPS), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees), over 200 faculty, and almost 600 staff. The College is committed to advancing the field of veterinary medicine through unparalleled applied, basic, and translational research. Innovative, student-centered curricula are delivered in a $92 million state-of-the-art educational facility opened in 2018. The Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management is a shared School between the SC Johnson College of Business and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The SC Johnson College of Business includes 3,200 students, over 200 faculty, and over 500 staff. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences encompasses a similar number of students and faculty, emphasizing agricultural and life sciences. The Dyson School houses a top-ranked undergraduate business program and graduate programs that award PhD, MS, and MPS degrees in applied economics. Pre-existing research relationships in agribusiness exist between the Dyson School and the College of Veterinary Medicine and will be expanded under the Center for Veterinary Business and Entrepreneurship. Faculty members in the Dyson School also frequently collaborate with colleagues in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Computer and Information Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Natural Resources, the New York City Tech campus, and other units on campus. Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to contribute to ongoing research through data acquisition and management, econometric analysis, writing, and dissemination of results. The candidate is expected to publish in leading scholarly journals in veterinary medicine, economics, management, or multidisciplinary journals. Presentations to academic audiences, as well as the Center's stakeholders, are expected. Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in agricultural or applied economics, economics, or a related field before the start date. Preference may be given to individuals with a strong background in time-series statistics or econometrics, the economics of consumer behavior, production economics, industrial organization, or marketing. Fluency in econometric software (e.g., R, Stata, MATLAB, or Python) is strongly preferred. This is a one-year full-time appointment with the potential for extension contingent upon successful performance. The salary range for this position is $61,008 to $72,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
