Position Number: 010099 Department: Facilities Management (Adm) Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time Months Per Year: 12 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Facility Maintenance Technician Building Trades (Building Envelope) performs under the direction of the Building Envelope supervisor. Duties include: Conducts maintenance, repair, replacement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components. These tasks require planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, and effective communication. Performs waterproofing and water tests at various heights. Willing to learn new skills such as drone operation, IR scanning, and coating methods. Implements methods and procedures of the relevant trades and maintenance techniques. Enhances skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment specific to the trade. Maintains compliance with safety policies and regulations Position may serve as lead technician and/or crew leader, directing the work of others. Minimum Experience / Education: Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. University Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Education Skills and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience in commercial and residential building and roofing repairs. Relevant trade experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Proficiency in adhering to applicable building codes. Working knowledge of carpentry, masonry, painting, plastering and/or roofing, and is able to recognize malfunctions or potential problems and ensure necessary repairs are completed. Experience with university systems, Archibus, Kronos, Niner Talent and others or ability to gain proficiency. Proficient in computer usage, with knowledge of Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and an openness to learning new software programs. Operates assigned vehicles both on and off-campus and must maintain a valid driver's license upon appointment. Strong proficiency in English, including reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills needed. Capability to cultivate a teamwork environment with co-workers, visitors, building occupants, and the broader campus community.
