Research Scientist Part-Time (PI Dr. Amy Slep) | New York University - Military Veterans

The Family Translational Research Group (FTRG) at New York University is looking for talented, hard-working people with a passion for understanding and preventing family violence to join our team. FTRG conducts cutting edge clinical psychology research on a wide variety of on topics ranging from defining maltreatment in ways that can be reliably used by field workers, to determining how couples? conflict dynamics relate to violence, to examining the effects of family violence on children?s psychological and physical functioning, to furthering our understanding of risk and protective factors for child maltreatment and partner abuse. Our research group uses the full spectrum of research methods ? from intensive behavior observation tools to epidemiological surveys. The FTRG typically has least 8-10 active federally-funded projects. The group includes several Ph.D. level psychologists and social workers, masters level researchers and counselors, and bachelor level research staff. The FTRG is co-directed by Dr. Amy M. Smith Slep and Dr. Richard E. Heyman. For more information about our group, go to www.ftrgroup.org. Research Scientist : This position requires extensive research training and experience. Experience conducting research on families, especially with relevance to family maltreatment, and/or prevention is required. Deep understanding in family maltreatment, mental health, and sexual assault prevention is required. Experience with military research is required. Fluency in typical computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and statistical packages, is required. Experience managing complex projects is a plus. Very strong data analytic skills are a plus. Typically, doctoral staff are involved in a number of projects and will be working managing the projects and staff, conducting data analyses, and writing scientific papers. Involvement with grant writing is necessary. NYU offers excellent benefits. Salary and title will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate salary range for this position is $57.70.
