Location: West Barnstable, MA Category: Faculty Positions Posted On: Fri Nov 22 2024 Job Description: GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide instruction for Microcomputer Hardware (CIT113) . Students learn the anatomy of a microcomputer by disassembling, assembling, upgrading, and customizing a PC. Students evaluate purchasing vs. building a PC. The role of the BIOS and CMOS in the POST and BOOT processes is explored. System boards, processors, memory, and peripherals, including input, output, multimedia, network, and data devices are studied. Students learn troubleshooting, safety, basic operating systems procedures, and security and preventive maintenance techniques. Customer service is stressed. This course covers the hardware material for the Comp TIA A+ certification exam. The CIT113 course will run at two different times during the Spring 2025 semester, as Quick Term-Q1(January 21-March 19) and Quick Term-Q2 (March 24-May14), on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-6:00 pm. Candidates should specify their interest in teaching the course during both terms or teaching only one term and which one. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes. Selection and development of appropriate materials for class use. Assessment of student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion. Maintain appropriate attendance and student records. Be available for students at mutually convenient times. Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Master's degree in appropriate discipline or a bachelor's degree plus 3 years of experience working with PC hardware. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. College teaching experience. ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: CompTIA A+ Certification. Experience working with GED and ESOL students in alternate learning environments within high schools. Experience with and a commitment to working in a global multicultural academic setting.
