Job Description
This position exists to partner with internal clients including administrators, supervisors, and employees with the purpose of providing resources, guidance, and consultative services within human resources areas. Act as business partner with administrators and supervisors with regard to all classified and unclassified positions in MAPE. This position also provides services, guidance, and resources in the areas of organizational and job analysis and classification, search management, onboarding, performance management, and transactions to further the mission and objectives of the college by building and strengthening the workforce of the organization. The HR Business Partner works directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and fully supports the college's commitment to equity and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Human Resources or related field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three (3) years of professional human resources experience in at least one of the following functional areas: talent acquisition, compensation, classification, employee relations, labor relations, and/or training and development.
- Working knowledge of HRIS systems.
- Knowledge of employment law such as: FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO, ACA.
- Knowledge of recruitment, assessment, selection principles and practices.
- Experience using an applicant tracking system
- Knowledge and/or experience in training and development of employees.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written, with sensitivity, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality.
- Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone or through written correspondence and effectively communicate with tact and diplomacy in a timely manner.
- Experience and ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated organizational skills showing the ability to prioritize work, independently initiate actions to meet deadlines, establish and maintain recordkeeping systems and complete all aspects of assignments under minimal supervision.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills sufficient to recognize problems, identify causes, research and evaluate alternatives, and choose/recommend the most effective action/solution.
Preferred QualificationÂ
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Four (4) or more years of human resources experience.
- Professional Human Resources certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM- SCP).
- Experience working with Workday software.
- Experience in providing training on a wide variety of HR topics.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Human Resources experience working within Minnesota State.
- Knowledge of Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) and Minnesota State's policies and procedures sufficient to process transactions and answer routine questions.
- Experience with Visa procedures
