Department: The Language, Literacy, and Culture Doctoral Program (LLC) investigates the concepts and processes of language, literacy, and culture in relation to social, historical, technological, and ideological formations. Emphasis is placed on socio-cultural and linguistic diversity, as it relates to social justice, change, equity, power, and identity. Its research and teaching community includes affiliated faculty from across the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Position Overview: As the sole staff position in the Language, Literacy & Culture Doctoral Program, the Coordinator is the the face of the program, both internally and externally, fundamentally influencing the success of its mission. The Coordinator reports to the Director and together they ensure the smooth functioning of the program, providing for the programmatic and administrative needs of its faculty, students, and alumni. Responsibilities: The anticipated start date for this position is February 2025. Performs all financial transactions, reconciling, and reporting of state, foundation, and grant accounts, providing budgeting and analysis Manages personnel records and payroll-related changes, including contracts, affiliate faculty and visiting scholar appointments, and graduate assistantships Administers several scholarship programs Plans, organizes, and promotes several events per year Oversees the annual admissions process from prospective student inquiries to admitted student orientation Tracks student progress through the program, serving as front-line progressions advisor to students, monitoring enrollments and policy adherence, and administering the comprehensive examinations Serves as Academic Scheduling Coordinator and tracks faculty teaching workload Serves as Graduate Program Coordinator, ensuring compliance with Graduate School policies and protocols Manages and disseminates departmental communications including community-wide announcements, compiling annual student handbook, semi-annual newsletter, and regular website updates Manages program rooms, offices, and equipment; provides reception; and assists director in planning meeting agendas and taking notes Occasionally supervises graduate assistants and student workers Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related work experience Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with colleagues Strong computer skills with interest in learning new systems and software Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office and Google Suite products Preferred Qualifications: Experience with progressively responsible roles in a combination of administrative, financial, project, and event management Experience working in a higher education setting Proficiency with PeopleSoft and Tableau Demonstrated file and data management skills Background Screening Statement: A background check will be required. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
