Lead Mechanical Engineer - Nitrogen - Military Veterans

Eaton’s AER MSD Mission System Division division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer - Nitrogen at our location in Davenport IA with Eaton’s Mission Systems Division (MSD). Relocation assistance provided if eligible.
The engineer will work with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) on a range of development activities for the systems, components, and equipment as part of the Nitrogen products team. The engineer performs project engineering work from design to implementation, communicates expectations, plans, and requirements, and coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects. The individual serves as a consultant across the division, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assist various projects and processes. The engineer contributes effectively towards team goals and influences the work group and works beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge to support internal and external customers. They are often the Technical Leader for large projects or multiple small projects. The engineer works with limited supervision, has strong technical skills, proactively seeks support from Chief Engineers or Subject Matter Experts, and can adapt and react quickly to internal and external customer demands.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you’ll do:
- Primary responsibility is for designs and development of moderately complex products for new nitrogen system products, processes, and technologies as well as redesigns existing products on time, within budget, and with required quality.
- Leads integrated product development teams; prepares design specifications, analyses, and recommendations for presentation and approval.
- Develops project plans for development activities including defining tasks, resource requirements, design reviews, and qualification and verification plans.
- Generates and/or reviews project-related documentation and analysis results to ensure their completeness and quality.
- Evaluates suitability of current products for new applications; works with team to develop bids and proposals for new, modified, or upgraded products. Awareness of external trends relevant to projects.
- Works within team to develop predictive component and product performance models; develops plans to verify models for component and product characteristics. Able to perform analysis within their technical domain and can lead analysis-led design changes (performance, stress, thermal, fluid flow) using the analysis results.
- Interfaces with customers as part of development programs; works closely with suppliers on component and product development.
- Participates in ideation for new products and technologies; provides innovative ideas for improvements to existing products. Generates IP and Publications in support of business needs.
- Applies advanced tools in problem solving and project management to solve technical issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of Engineering experience.
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years of engineering design and project experience
- Experience in an engineering aerospace environment
- Experience with Pro/Engineer (CREO)
- Ability to apply Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection for engineering design
- Ability to perform basic structural and/or performance analysis.
- Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Manufacturability (dfM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) principles.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams.
- Good technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
