Lead Building Services Worker | Davidson College - Military Veterans

Davidson College seeks a full-time Lead Building Services Worker to perform a variety of custodial and general housekeeping duties involving the care and cleaning of college buildings. Performs general housekeeping duties involving the cleaning, stocking of supplies and use of cleaning equipment (large and small) in college buildings to include: offices, restrooms, classrooms, stairs, balconies and stair landings, lobbies, activity buildings. This 12 month position is generally Monday through Friday, though occasional weekend work is required. This is a full time position working 40 hours per week 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The position is eligible for regular college benefits, including, Health, Vacation, Sick time, Holidays, plus participation in the college's retirement plan. Competitive salary, especially for candidates with experience. Responsibilities: Fill-in for absentees and ensure all assignments are cleaned on a daily basis. Clean, scrub, mop, shampoo and polish floors, walls, windows, woodwork, venetian blinds, fixtures, carpets, entrance mats and other surfaces; sweep and clean walkways; and pick up litter in and around building areas. Clean and disinfect restrooms, empty trash containers and sanitize such containers to meet college standards and sanitary requirements. Operate stripping, waxing, polishing, shampooing and vacuum machines; change attachments and perform routine maintenance on equipment. Pull trash and recycling and place in assigned locations for pick up. Report items requiring service or repair; monitor security of buildings on assigned shifts. Assist preparations for set-ups for special events; take down and store equipment as required. Requirements: 1 year or less work experience. Preferred : HS or GED. Some housekeeping experience desired but not necessary. Steady work history desired. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities : Ability to understand and read written and verbal instructions and follow through. Some knowledge of cleaning equipment and technique desired. Ability to interact positively with a wide variety of customers.
