The Opportunity
BDA Product Support, Training and Maintenance Capability is seeking a talentedTraining Device Simulator Technician to support a world class strategic lift aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster.
The Simulator Technician will be required to perform functional and maintenance activities across a wide variety of training devices in support of Pilot, Loadmaster and Maintenance Instruction. The position will be based in South East Queensland, at RAAF Base Amberley(Ipswich).
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate sound communication and analytical skills with the ability to maintain stakeholder relationships and facilitate resources to ensure timely operation C-17 training system requirements
- Work and contribute to BDA's Environment, Health & Safety Management System
- Interpret and apply Global Trade Controls (GTC) principles, and work with various stakeholders to ensure compliance
- Manage and perform general pre-operations, post-operations and component handling of training devices
- Demonstrate an understanding of maintenance, repair, test, installation, configuration, upgrade and modification of simulators and training components, devices, hardware and software in accordance with approved maintenance documentation
Experience/Qualifications
Essential:
- Qualifications in engineering or equivalent technical experience in an electrical/electronic discipline (e.g. Cert IV in Aeroskills (Avionics), Cert III Electrotechnology, or equivalent)
- Restricted Electrical Licence (REL) or the ability to obtain a REL
- Ability to work a rotational shift pattern in support of training requirements
Desirable:
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated experience in operation and maintenance activities across a wide variety of systems including pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and software.
- Familiarity with aircraft flight and mission systems
- Experience maintaining aircrew and maintenance simulators
- Successful completion of the Defence ComSec course
- IT skills and an understanding of engineering processes
Eligibility
Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements, and have a current /or the ability to obtain a NV1 Defence Security Clearance (minimum)
