JOB SUMMARY:
Analyze transportation and distribution systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and economical delivery of the organization's products. Evaluate freight classifications, tariff rates and operating efficiency to ensure the proper delivery of products.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate transportation cost and service performance metrics for internal division, operations team and carrier review meetings.
- Trouble shoot shipment routing and carrier questions from vendors and internal customers. Assist in working and managing central mailbox for Transportation
- Help maintain service levels while achieving route guide compliance targets by working with the branches and Transportation Operations.
- Analyze transportation cost data by mode, distance, frequency and utility. Evaluate expense trends across general ledger accounts and help develop transportation solutions that optimize costs.
- Respond to with vendors and third party logistics providers to improve Medline's inbound routing program. Increase shipment/cost visibility and ensure sufficient transportation capacity is in place to support distribution network.
- Monitor carrier performance and generate scorecards to drive continuous improvement across cost and service. Assist in the audit and payment of freight bills.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics / Transportation / Finance or Business.
Relevant Work Experience
- At least 3 years' experience in a Transportation, Supply Chain, Distribution or Business Analysis. Additional - Working knowledge level of Transportation practices. - Intermediate knowledge of Transportation Management Systems - Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel and data analysis - Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Access or other database management tools. (For example: designing and creating simple queries, modifying data types, etc.). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience with SAP. - Experience in TMS systems

The current MedTrans fleet is comprised of semi trucks, box trucks and cargo vans to accommodate large and small deliveries.
