System Administrator/Network Support Specialist - 3490 - Military Veterans

This position is a remote overseas assignment on Ascension Island, South Atlantic Ocean, in support of daily, special test and launch operations with no family accommodations. Essential Functions

  • Provide day-to-day support of the Mission Enterprise Network
  • Support mission network infrastructure and resolve Routing, Switching, Firewall, Intrusion Detection, Load-Balancing, Serial to IP and Virtual environment incidents
  • Perform Microsoft 2003/2008/2012/2016/2019 systems administrator duties for physical and virtual enclave computing environment
  • Analyze, log, track and resolve software/hardware anomalies pertaining to networking transport connectivity, printers, servers, workstations, and applications to meet mission needs
  • Recommend course of action and implement as approved
  • Review system logs for vulnerability and optimization
  • Ensure the enterprise is compliant and free/mitigated from vulnerabilities
  • Work as a team member on technical issues
  • Interface with all levels of RGNext, Space Force, Department of Defense, Eastern Range customers and management
  • Maintain complete technical documentation
  • Support Information Assurance Cybersecurity Assessments
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call schedule, responding to network outages and other events
  • Follow all Change Management procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology related field (Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two (2) or more years of network administration experience
  • Two (2) or more years of system administration experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008/2016/2019 systems administration and networking
  • Working Knowledge of Windows 2000, NT, XP, 7, and 10
  • Competent Knowledge and Experience in:
    • OSI Layer 3 Routing and Layer 2 Switching
    • OSPF
    • 802.1Q VLANs
    • MAC locking/filtering
    • QoS
    • SAN technology - storage - switches - Fiber channel and iSCSI
    • Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 Active Directory administration
    • VMWare Data Center Virtualization technology
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, 7, 8 and its CLI
    • Network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools
  • Experience with SolarWinds, JUNOS, and Cisco IOS preferred
  • Experience with installing, configuring and troubleshooting O/S and server applications such as IIS, SharePoint, and MS SQL server, preferred
  • Unix system administration experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of data communications protocols (TCP/IP); principles and practices of security implementation in the areas of data communications and information systems; PKI, data encryption, encryption equipment, Firewalls, Department of Defense security regulations, and perimeter protection, preferred

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • DoD 8570 Certification (Security+ CE or CISSP or CASP), or ability to obtain and maintain certification within six months of employment
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Frequently move, transport, install and position equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently ascend/descend, and traverse, work areas at heights of approximately 20 feet or more
  • Ability to drive manual transmission
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Valid U.S. Passport or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire
