Winter Temporary - Highway Equipment Operator, SG-07 - Grounds Department Description of Department: The mission of Facilities Services is to operate, maintain and renew campus facilities to support the mission of the campus, using quality materials and workmanship to ensure a safe, reliable, attractive and efficient physical environment. The Facility Services Grounds Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill temporary, full-time Highway Equipment Operator, Grade 7 positions. Posting Date: November 20, 2024 Review Date: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Salary: $17.78/hour. In accordance with the CSEA Operational Services Unit Agreement. Date of Appointment: As soon as possible Description of Responsibilities: Operational Needs: Checks, adjusts, monitors, and operates equipment, including backhoes, sweepers, rollers, lifts, loaders, trucks, tractors, mowers, spreaders, and sprayers. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on machines to ensure safe and efficient operations. Maintains grounds, roadways, waterways, and trails. Assists skilled and semi-skilled trades workers by performing the more routine manual tasks of the trade. Operates and maintains motorized equipment and machinery. Assists in operations by performing routine, repetitive activities. Acts as a lead worker in a small crew, advising and assisting crew members. Knowledge of snow removal equipment and operation. Must be dependable and able to work in all types of weather. Job Duties: Operate all types of vehicles and equipment in the Grounds Department. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment. Basic knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of the assigned equipment. May make emergency welds on vehicles and equipment. Ability to operate machinery safely and effectively. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions. Ability to perform routine repairs and maintenance on equipment. Be physically able to perform the duties of the position. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in the operation of tractors or other self-propelled equipment and possession of a valid NYS driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle operated (CDL).
