Position Summary: The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
- Floor Care: Sweep and mop all hard surface floors regularly; strip, wax, and buff all tile floors as needed; regularly vacuum carpets, and shampoo as needed.
- Lavatories: Maintain, clean and disinfected lavatories. bathroom fixtures cleaned multiple times daily, and product dispensers should be clean, stocked, and in working order. Doors, walls, and handles to be wiped down and sanitized regularly.
- General Cleaning: Empty and clean waste receptacles regularly. Clean and dust all woodwork, tables, chairs, windows, walls, blinds, and wall fixtures regularly. Respond quickly to spills, and maintain a hazard free public space. Clean meeting rooms and event spaces after each event. Clean and Disinfect offices, kitchenette, and guest lounges regularly. Keep stairwells clean, hazard-free, and dry. Maintain clean and well stocked housekeeping closets and office.
- Building Entrance and Exterior: Maintain clean building entrances. Ensure doors open, close, and lock properly. Clean entrance floor mats. Distribute ice melt when conditions require. Pressure wash building exterior and sidewalks. Pick up trash on the University Center Lawn and Central Plaza after Department of Campus Activities outdoor events. Sweep the loading dock and keep it free of obstacles.
- Special Duties: Assist with maintaining the cleaning equipment and machines. Clean the Department of Campus Activities grills as needed. Replace light bulbs as needed. Report any maintenance issues, necessary building repairs, and security concerns to the Building and Environmental Services Supervisor or the Assistant Director for Resource Management. Assist the Department of Campus Activities Tech Crew and Operations Staff in event set-up and break-down as needed. Assist with building evacuation or lock-down during building or campus emergencies. Answer guest questions and offer general customer service. Attend staff meetings and training as requested.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:
Minimum Qualifications: Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
