Job Description:

Position Summary:

MHE/Building Mechanic

Responsible for basic and/or non-routine preventative and corrective maintenance; maintain and repair machinery and equipment (i.e., forklift, pallet jacks, material handling equipment, etc.) within the distribution facility. May assist with basic building maintenance as required.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Ensure facilities meet all safety and code requirements.
  • Maintain well defined processes for repairs and replacement items.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on forklifts, pallet trucks, and other material handling equipment
  • Perform regular and occasional intensive repairs on forklifts, pallet trucks, and other material handling equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on motive power batteries and chargers
  • Maintain accurate and timely inventory of parts and equipment.
  • Assist as needed with repair and/or replace equipment and fixtures as necessary (i.e., floors, ceiling, walls, doors, cabinets, light bulbs, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; ensure work is completed in a timely manner while keeping associates and customers in mind.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Here's what you'll need:
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Hilo License (required)
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED)
  • Experience with food equipment strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal to communicate and/or document maintenance needs and status of projects using computers and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Three years' experience mechanical/machinery maintenance and/or repair experience or related technical school certificate.
  • One year experience with a combination of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
  • Basic math, writing and computer skills related to mechanic aptitude/maintenance.
  • Must have maintenance experience to include carpentry and plumping skills and a basic understanding of environmental issues.
  • Prior experience in retail maintenance a plus.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work assignments and meet established deadlines.
  • Must perform assigned tasks accurately and completely.
  • Must be flexible and able to handle changes in work requirements productively.

Physical Requirements:

Must frequently sit, walk and stand, use hands to handle, grasp, and twist objects, tools, or controls, and use both feet for repetitive movements as in operating foot controls. Must frequently walk, talk, crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, and reach with the hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed. While performing the duties of this position, employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity based on assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Employees must be able to work weekends, holidays, days and night hours, and overtime as necessary and as assigned, and must be able to work in the condition specified for 8-10 hours shift as assigned. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
