DESCRIPTION

As part of Michael Baker International's growing Rail & Transit Practice, the Amtrak Client Manager will be responsible for business development, oversight of project management on all Amtrak projects, and be the key point of contact for developing relationships and winning and executing planning, engineering and construction services for Amtrak. Additional responsibilities may include growing and developing, recruiting and mentoring a diverse group of railroad and transit professionals in the planning, design and provision of construction and program management services for projects involving Amtrak.

The ideal candidate should be located in the greater Philadelphia area, utilizing a hybrid work environment. Consideration will be given to candidates outside Philadelphia based on experience and relationships- If not located in Philadelphia, candidates must be able to regularly and easily commute to Philadelphia for client meetings. This individual will work with the National Director for Rail &Transit and the Philadelphia Leadership Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Client Engagement
    • Be the main point of contact for all client engagement with Amtrak. Develop action plans for winning and executing Amtrak projects and assist with executing the Michael Baker Strategic Plan for Rail and Transit Growth related to Amtrak. Coordinate with national and regional rail leadership and participate in marketing and proposal development.
  • Project Oversight
    • Provide oversight to the project managers on all Amtrak projects to support, review and audit processes to insure successful projects. Provide technical oversight and advisement as needed. Review project scopes, fees, and schedules for design contracts.
  • Mentorship
    • Apply your understanding of Amtrak operations, policies and processed to develop solutions and mentor staff.
  • Recruitment
    • Work with the recruiting team to identify, interview, and select outstanding candidates to support Amtrak and the Michael Baker Rail and Transit team.
  • Professional Development
    • Engage in national events such as APTA and AREMA and industry related professional organizations to stay current with industry trends and network with peers.
REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience with Amtrak with demonstrable planning, design or engineering/operations management experience.
  • Professional Engineer's license preferred.
  • Strong client management skills, ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team, excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, organizational skills and problem-solving ability. Knowledge of the business development process.
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Proficient in MS Office 365 and related design software.
  • Willingness and ability to mentor, advise and manage young staff on rail projects, operations, and engineering best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks or projects concurrently and a proactive, collaborative approach to project development.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $131,634- $228,048 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
