Reporting Relationship and Scope of Position:
The AVP Financial Reporting will perform a variety of accounting, finance and analytical procedures as part of Chubb Life Segment's regular consolidation and reporting functions. This role in the Global Office will liaise with local country and regional operations as well as corporate accounting and actuarial teams to assess financial performance via supporting analyses and work-papers, as well as gather and compile key financial disclosure data required for Corporate filings. The AVP Financial Reporting will report to the VP Financial Reporting for the Life business to help improve the overall control environment of the Segment through leadership, technical research and tactical process improvement.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the coordination and oversight for the timely & accurate preparation of period-end reporting packages by all subsidiaries, including submission as part of the Chubb Limited consolidation process
- Review financial schedules and footnote disclosure information provided by subsidiaries for completeness and accuracy to ensure compliance with Corporate &Segment requirements
- Supervise the process of preparing and maintaining Segment schedules which support consolidated financial statement disclosures and various Segment reporting packages
- Evaluate accounting processes and identify opportunities to streamline; recommend solutions
- Prepare ad-hoc analysis as requested by senior management; investigate and resolve discrepancies when identified
- Provide oversight and direction to Global Office accounting staff and local country finance teams to ensure accurate and timely performance of the day-to-day operations of the business
- Supervise the design, establishment and maintenance of accounting and reporting policies and processes that conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Maintain supporting documentation to ensure compliance with internal control standards as well as requests from internal and external auditors
Required Background:
The successful candidate will possess 10 to 15 plus years of progressively responsible financial business management experience in a public or private insurance organization, as well as Life Insurance and U.S. GAAP technical expertise. He/she will have knowledge of financial risk management, accounting and financial reporting standards. Both international experience and public accounting experience are preferred, but not mandatory. In addition, a CPA designation is preferred (but not required), and relevant professional credentials (CPCU, ASA/FSA) or advanced educational degrees (MBA) are desirable.

- Strong interpersonal skills to include a collaborative, "team player" style. Included is the ability to relate to, and communicate effectively with, all members of the organization within a demanding professional environment and matrix organizational structure
- Flexibility to work with international teams on different times zones and ability to work toward tight deadlines during reporting period,
- Demonstrated agility, both with the content of the work and the communication of same, are necessary
- Effective management of multiple competing priorities is essential, as well as a strong attention to accuracy and detail
- Proficiency in basic technology applications (MS Office applications, or equivalent) is required.
- The interest and ability to assume broader leadership
