Job Duties:
Fixed-term or tenure track faculty position for a Board Certified Family Physician or Internal Medicine Physician with additional qualifications in Geriatrics for the primary purposes of leading the Geriatrics Division comprised of six physician faculty and two geriatric fellows. Responsible for teaching geriatric fellows, family medicine residents, m edical students and other learners. Patient care responsibilities include providing care to the geriatric population in the ambulatory geriatric clinic, assisted living and nursing home facility and on the Family Medicine Inpatient Service.
The Division Director is a member of the departments senior leadership team and will set the course for geriatrics and participate in other department initiatives.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System ( TSERS ). Minimum Education/Experience:
MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution
CAQ in Geriatrics
Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (American Board of Medical Specialties)
Collaborative (including interdepartmental) relationship building and maintenance skills
Refined analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire
