St. Catherine University (St. Kate's) invites applications for the position of Research Officer for the Institutional Advancement department.
The Prospect Research Officer plans, implements and supports a comprehensive prospect, portfolio and moves management program. The prospect research officer is responsible for prospect data and information for the campaign and as requested by or for the President, Senior Vice President, Vice President, and the Director; this includes prospect research profiles, portfolio and pool data. The prospect researcher is a ready partner with and support for the development.
Responsibilities Include:
Strategic Prospect Management
- Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive prospect, portfolio and moves management plan.
- Provide monthly reports to vice president re complement of prospects in portfolios, time in stage and other data in support of moves management.
- Prospects are organized for Moves Management (MM) in a strategic and prioritized system.
Research briefings & meeting preparation
- Prepare detailed and up-to-date research briefings on prospects and/or groups of prospects for SVP, VP, MGOs and other staff as needed.
- Using information gathered in research, update CRM Advance with new information.
Prospect Identification
- Screen and vet major gift prospects using external tools (e.g. iWave);
- Develop prioritized pools from which to assign prospects.
- Own the organizational structure in CRM Advance for these scorings.
Data Management
- Participate and contribute to the formulation of the University's development planning as it pertains to information systems.
- Update and create the processes and procedures of prospect management and related infrastructure support services (ie. CRM Advance).

Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Has at least one (1) year of prospect research experience for a higher education entity or related.
- Extensive investigative and research skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent, extensive investigative and research skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the methods of information acquisition, including use of online and printed sources of information. Show initiative in identifying new sources of information, as they become necessary and/or available.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data from a wide variety of sources.
- Ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency, yet thorough attention to detail and follow through.
- Demonstrated competence in a variety of computer applications, including database, spreadsheet and word processing programs.
- Appreciation of the mission, purpose and values of a comprehensive university.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion.
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
