Responsibilities

About the Role:

The AVP Software Engineering - Salesforce for Agent experience platform leads, manages, mentors, and builds an extremely talented software engineering team to deliver a game changing customer experience across all customer touch points. This leader must have the ability to attract and recruit the industry's best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure that we build compelling, customer-oriented solutions in an iterative methodology. This role requires a background in software engineering, especially in Salesforce. Prior experience in largescale salesforce implementation is required. Success in the role requires experience delivering new customer facing software products, reasoning skills, strong interpersonal relationships, compassion and understanding for challenges, efficiency, and a passion for creating software for millions of customers. You're motivated by improving culture, earning trust, your team's growth, and have a track record of doing so in management positions.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the implementation of new Salesforce platform
    Work closely with business to identify opportunities and build product roadmaps.
  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across our full stack, with a particular focus on front-end and middleware platforms and technologies
  • Manage third party staff augmentation firms, leveraging staff and contractors appropriately with regards to budget, timelines, and skillsets
  • Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards
  • Foster and cultivate a culture of continuous delivery and improvement with an emphasis on full lifecycle ownership of the applications that your teams deliver
  • Delegate routine and standard tasks to appropriate team members and also serve as high level escalation contact
  • Resolves most conflicts between timeline, budget and scope independently but intuitively escalates complex or consequential issues to management
  • Define and evangelize enterprise policies, standards and position statements
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
  • Grow subject matter experts to produce resilient, scalable software and secure data with highest quality.
  • Work to modernize our existing tech stacks
  • Collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What makes you a dream candidate?
  • Experienced with several programming paradigms
  • Experience with release systems and CI/CD
  • Experience with Docker, Jenkins, Github tools, etc
  • Deep understanding of technologies used in our stack, client-server architecture, and web technology
  • Adequate understanding of infrastructure and DevOps
  • Able to design and architect maintainable and scalable technical systems
  • Excellent listener; proven collaborator with superiors, peers and staff
  • Aptitude to build very strong partnerships with other technology leaders that enable your team's ability to stay on the leading edge of industry solutions
  • Ability to inspire your teammates to deliver quality software solution

Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience required
  • 5-7 years experience in software development and Salesforce enterprise platform
  • Greater than 10 years years in software development field required
  • 5-7 years leading projects or initiatives through influence required

OUR BUSINESS & OUR HISTORY

GM Financial was founded as AmeriCredit in September 1992 and opened its first branch office in Fort Worth, Texas. On October 1, 2010, AmeriCredit Corp. was acquired by General Motors Company and renamed General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial). In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada.  In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations. The majority of those acquisitions were finalized in 2013, with the remaining market, a 35 percent equity interest in a joint venture in China, acquired in January 2015.  In October 2017, GM Financial completed the sale of its European financial subsidiaries and branches as part of General Motors’ sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses to Peugeot S.A.

 

GM Financial provides auto finance solutions to 14,000 dealers worldwide, with earning assets of $93 billion at September 30, 2018.
