Position Summary
Join Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. (MEPPI) as a Software Engineer within our Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD). In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in programming, troubleshooting, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) development to support our innovative systems software. You'll have the chance to design, test, and implement cutting-edge remote control solutions that power critical infrastructure.
Essential Functions
- Design, test, and deploy programmable logic controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs for remote monitoring and control of CPSD equipment.
- Identify and resolve issues during testing and debugging of PLC programs and hardware systems to meet strict deadlines and quality standards.
- Provide technical software support to internal and external customers, including on-site assistance when required.
- Produce comprehensive technical specifications, code documentation, user manuals, and service support documents.
- Identify necessary hardwired and digital I/O to monitor and control systems and create seamless software interfaces.
- Assist in the development and review of engineering and interface drawings to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
- Develop and deploy patches or solutions while adhering to configuration management principles.
- Use graphical programming tools in MEPPI’s test lab to design and implement innovative solutions.
- Participate in technical meetings, seminars, and presentations with customers, sales teams, and partners.
- Obtain quotes for peripheral equipment while ensuring compliance with Mitsubishi specifications.
- Create and deliver training presentations on software use and capabilities for sales partners.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering with 3–5 years of experience in systems engineering software and HMI development, or equivalent education and experience.
- Proficient in scripting and automation languages (Python, C, LabVIEW).
- Advanced knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., ladder logic, function block diagrams).
- Hands-on experience in HMI/SCADA development for industrial automation.
- Intermediate understanding of communication protocols and familiarity with power distribution or UPS systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and related tools.
