Contract Specialist - Senior - Military Veterans

will lead and manage complex contract negotiations, administration, and compliance for the EDAT program, supporting the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). This position requires deep expertise in contract management, legal frameworks, and compliance regulations such as ITAR and import/export. The successful candidate will serve as the senior point of contact for all contractual matters, providing strategic advice to senior management, ensuring compliance, and overseeing the preparation and delivery of contractual documentation. This role plays a key part in supporting high-level decision-making and ensuring that contract activities align with the program’s objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex contract negotiations, administration, and management for customer contracts, ensuring alignment with company policies, legal frameworks, and customer specifications.
- Develop and implement strategies for optimizing contract acquisition and fulfillment to meet organizational goals.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Develop and initiate documentation processes to authorize and guide work according to contractual specifications, ensuring precision, compliance, and adherence to timelines.
- Ensure compliance with ITAR, import/export, and other legal and contractual regulations, developing policies to manage compliance and mitigate risks.
Strategic Advising:
- Provide strategic advice to senior management on contractual rights, obligations, risks, and opportunities, aiding in high-level decision-making and strategic planning.
Communication & Stakeholder Management:
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of all contractual notifications, letters, and deliverables, ensuring seamless communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Serve as the senior primary contractual point of contact for the AAS Contracting Officer, facilitating strategic discussions and resolutions on complex contractual matters.
Recordkeeping & Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of contractual documentation, including contract correspondence, customer contact information, contractual changes, status reports, and other critical documents across all projects.
- Ensure proper documentation of contractual changes and provide status updates to relevant stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Risk Mitigation:
- Identify potential contractual risks and develop strategies for mitigation, ensuring the program remains compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Masters Degree
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in contract administration, negotiation, and management, with significant experience managing complex contracts in the government or defense sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in ITAR, import/export regulations, and other relevant legal frameworks.
- Experience leading and advising on strategic contract management at a senior level.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
- Deep knowledge of federal contracting regulations (e.g., FAR/DFARS) and government procurement processes.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple contracts and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and risk management skills, with the ability to assess contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies.
