Job Summary

Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Student Assistant in the IT Department to assist faculty and staff with daily, routine library operations. Students in the Libraries IT Department should have a certain basic set of skills to be able to assist the department efficiently and effectively. Our expectation is performance to the best of your ability on all tasks requested.

Essential Functions
  • Assist Auburn University Libraries staff in resolving computing questions as well as hardware/software problems/repairs/maintenance
  • Assist IT staff in updating computer software, imaging laptops/computers, swapping out computer equipment
  • Refer users to other information resources when necessary to resolve computer usage issues
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area
  • Help set up/transport equipment

Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolled student at Auburn University

  • A commitment to an inclusive and diverse campus environment is essential. Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, balancing, hearing, handling objects with hands, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds

Students will work up to 20 hours per week depending on availability and departmental needs.

    Welcome to Auburn University! 

     

    Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.

    Today, Auburn is one of the few universities to carry the torch as a land, sea and space grant university. Our fall 2014 semester enrollment was 25,912. Our students can choose from more than 140 degree options in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
