The Sterilization Tech is Responsible for all activities of sterile processing including cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and storage of medical instruments and equipment. Responsible for all Linen functions throughout the Fred Hutch. Responsibilities Completes all duties of a Linen Technician, and Responsible for cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and storage of medical instruments and equipment used for patient care. Ensure that all equipment is maintained and ready for use by healthcare professionals. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and Fred Hutch policies. Reprocess equipment using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques. Inspect equipment for damage or wear and report any defects to the supervisor. Sort and wrap supplies according to protocols for sterilization using proper technique and materials. Ensure all sterile supplies are labeled and dated for use, and verify that all sterilization parameters have been met. Participate in infection control programs by ensuring proper handling and storage of sterile medical supplies. Maintain accurate records of sterilization loads and quality control testing results. Follow all safety procedures to prevent exposure to potentially infectious materials. Uphold departmental standards and comply with all state and federal regulations. Recognize malfunctions of instruments/equipment and take appropriate. Qualifications Required: A High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education. HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) certification or CFER (Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor) certification, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Minimum one (1) year supply chain experience Ability to understand and demonstrate proper techniques for cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies. Knowledge of cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies. Knowledge of computerized or automated system operations. Knowledge of record keeping practices. Ability to effectively communicate. Basic math skills and knowledge of units of measure. Knowledge of safety practices. Ability to lift heavy packages and objects > 50 lbs. using proper technique. Must be able to push/pull cart with 400 lbs. load. The hourly pay range for this position is from $24.02 to $34.19 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
