Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the online undergraduate Strategic Communications program. This position is a full-time teaching position beginning in July 2025. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction and contribute to course development, program administration, and student mentorship in this rapidly growing program.The position involves teaching 8 courses annually on an 8-week term schedule, contributing to course development, and supporting the overall program through service and administration duties. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Strategic Communications, particularly in an online teaching environment, and a strong commitment to student success and engagement. Qualifications: A minimum of a Master's degree in Strategic Communications or a closely related field. A doctoral degree is preferred. Job Specific Qualifications: Proven experience and demonstrated expertise in teaching Strategic Communications or a related field. Experience teaching in an online environment is strongly preferred. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage and inspire online students. Experience in curriculum development and course design is a plus. Experience using data and analytics in Strategic Communications and related fields. Expertise in areas such as crisis management, content optimization, public relations, and digital storytelling. A strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in both teaching and professional activities. Relevant professional experience in Strategic Communications, with the ability to integrate real-world examples into the classroom to enhance student learning and engagement. Responsibilities: Teach a maximum of 8 courses annually (calendar year appointment). Develop new and update existing courses in Strategic Communications that reflect industry trends and academic goals. Mentor and advise online undergraduate students, providing academic support and guidance. Contribute to program administration, including application review, onboarding new faculty, and participating in departmental committees. Engage with Newhouse faculty and students in committee work and collaborative program activities.
