Associate Director Of Financial Aid Job Description: The Associate Director of Financial Aid serves as part of the financial aid policy team, working with the other members of the team to implement institutional policies and aid packaging for undergraduate students. This position will oversee institutional merit scholarships, coordinate stewardship placement for all endowed need-based and merit-based University scholarships and jointly manage the W&L Spring Term Abroad aid program with the other Associate. The Associate will work closely with other staff to coordinate the Questbridge, admission fly-in programs, and W&L benefits programs. Essential Functions: Assist the Director of Financial Aid with interpretation and implementation of State and Federal regulations, and Financial Aid/Business Office and College policies and procedures as they apply to student financial aid. Serve as part of the Financial Aid team to evaluate institutional policy and methodology, evaluate award packaging processes, develop best practices for implementing aid awards, and provide complete and accurate aid packages for both undergraduate and law students. As part of the Financial Aid Office Team, collaborates and sets objectives and goals for the Financial Aid Office; seeking to improve current processes to effectively serve students in meeting their educational goals. Work as a team with the Director and staff to determine need-based awards for first-year and returning students. Coordinate and package all Institutional Merit and Regional scholarships for entering and returning students, including those studying abroad. Responsible for the management of the Merit Stewardship program including the assignment of all named scholarship funds to W&L Scholar recipients, working with the Office of Development to update and coordinate merit stewardship recipients. Coordinate the National Merit Scholarship program. Manage the university endowed stewardship program, reassigning student need-based funds to relevant scholarship accounts by coordinating with the Development Office to determine student eligibility following donor criteria. Work closely with the office of Advancement to ensure the endowed award process meets all university requirements. Collaborate with Donor Relations, and Associated Director of FA to develop an interim Access Database. Develop interim database processes for all endowed awards and prizes to provide access for awarding. Responsible for digitizing, storing, and managing access to all endowed scholarship MOUs and associated paperwork. Coordinate undergraduate year end awards/prizes with Registrar's Office; working with academic and administrative offices to determine recipients as well as disbursement of awards/prizes, corresponds with award recipients as required. Serves with the Associate coordinate the evaluation and disbursement of aid for the W&L Spring Term Abroad program. Serve with the Associate as the QuestBridge program coordinators. Packaging all awards, managing communications, and coordinating and leading QB presentations. Serve with the Associate as the QuestBridge program coordinators. Serve with the Associate as the contact between student affairs Angel Fund and Financial Aid and determines funding options for students requesting funds through this process. Works with the Director and Associate of Financial aid to develop programs that review benefit options for low income and hardship students. Work with the Director to coordinate and develop in-office training, including training for part-time and summer help on document entry and the document upload system, and training for full-time staff on relevant and timely financial aid topics. Serve with the other Associate Director as a financial aid representative for admissions presentations. Participate in weekend and evening web-hosted events. Conduct financial aid appointments and presentations, assist students with financial aid applications, counsel and advise students and parents regarding available financial aid options. Maintain exemplary customer service standards. Other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 5 years' administrative experience in admissions or financial or a combination of education and experience from which a similar skillset is derived. Proven leadership and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Ability to work independently and be able to set goals and successfully complete these goals without oversight.
