Position description The UC Irvine Department of Biomedical Engineering, part of the Samueli School of Engineering, is excited to announce the opening of applications for three postdoctoral scholar positions in Professor Arash Kheradvar's Research Group (KLAB). The KLAB team is engaged in cutting-edge research across a variety of projects within the realms of cardiovascular science and engineering. Position Details Position 1: Fluid Mechanics We are seeking a candidate with expertise in theoretical or experimental fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), or programming in C++ and/or Python. A strong background in particle image velocimetry (PIV), particularly with multiplanar PIV techniques, is highly desirable. This position involves applying advanced fluid dynamics principles into development of novel cardiac imaging technologies, making significant contributions to our understanding of cardiac flow dynamics. Position 2: Tissue Culture and Mitochondria The second position requires a candidate with robust experience in tissue culture and/or mitochondrial research. Applicants should demonstrate a deep understanding of tissue culture techniques, with a particular emphasis on applications in heart valves and/or mitochondria. Position 3: Cloud Computing and AI Applications in Medical Imaging The third position focuses on leveraging cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of medical imaging techniques, specifically MRI and ultrasound. Candidates with experience in these areas will be well-positioned to contribute to innovative solutions in cardiovascular diagnostics. Candidate Qualifications Successful applicants should possess: A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field, such as applied or theoretical mathematics, mechanical or aerospace engineering, computer science or engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, applied biology, or biomedical engineering. A strong commitment to pursuing a research career. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
