Summary

This CONTINGENT key position will support HII-NNS CVN in-service project team in Bremerton, WA as a Preservation Superintendent.

*This role is contingent upon being awarded the contract.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and perform oversight of all NAVSEA Standard Item 009-32, Cleaning and Painting Requirements; accomplish - processes and inspections.
  • Conduct Test and Inspection Plan (TIP) reviews.
  • Lead and perform Test and Inspection Requirements (TIR) validation oversight shipboard and in the shops.
  • Conduct space and compartment close out inspections and validations.
  • Train and mentor junior inspectors in inspection processes.
  • Serve as resident Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Preservation processes and Naval Coatings.


What You Must Have

  • 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
  • Must have experience working in a Shipyard Environment.
  • Must have knowledge of coating methods, techniques, devices, and materials including but not limited to: S9086-VD-STM-010, SSPC Painting Manual, ASTM D4417 and NACE International Standards.
  • Must have experience performing SP-1, SP-10, SP-11, SP-17, Stripe and Final coat inspections.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, enter tanks and voids to perform a work site assessments onboard a naval aircraft carrier.
  • Must be familiar with NAVSEA Basic Painter Inspector (NBPI) and NACE Coating Inspection Program (CIP).
  • Must have experience planning and reviewing schedules and assigning priorities for work activities.
  • Must be able to perform 4E Spec verbiage reviews, use NNS Industrial Management System, generate CFRs as required, and be able to accomplish compartment close out inspections.
  • Must have knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items.
  • Must be able to read and interpret NAVSEA ship drawings.
  • Must have experience developing and providing recommendations for material, tooling, job sequencing, safety, environmental controls, manpower, etc.
  • Must have experience monitoring and assessing schedule, cost, and quality of work being performed by reviewing produced metrics and tour work sites on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to lead meetings and interact professionally with other organizations within the naval community.
  • Must have the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, and Project.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate issues and concerns both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base and ship access.


Preferred: Bonus Points For

  • A current, valid DoD Secret security clearance or higher.


Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
