Provides quality care to residents through assisting with daily activities, taking vitals, and providing emotional support. Reports to Director of Clinical and Residential Services and takes direction from licensed nurse on duty.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO OUR SUCCESS!

In addition to other duties, this position will:

  • Prepare and facilitate evening and weekend groups including life skills, social rehab and psychoeducational.
  • Provides intervention and completes tasks as assigned by nurse on duty and management team, including drug screenings.
  • Completes orientation with new residents and treatment participants, including intake paperwork.
  • Observe residents for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report these changes to appropriate nurse on duty and management team.
  • Monitor clients by performing periodic assigned checks. Monitor property regularly and report unsafe conditions and practices immediately to the appropriate person. Makes scheduled rounds in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, transport, and supervise social activities on and off facility.
  • Provides emotional support to clients and engages clients in activities as appropriate to their level of functioning and ability to participate. Explains and applies facility rules and regulations to ensure all clients' safety and promote emotional security.
  • Provide support to CNA and Dietary Aides duties as required.
  • Provide basic maintenance support to residential and behavioral health facilities.
  • Maintain interaction and visibility during entire shift with clients and is knowledgeable of resident rights and engages clients in a strength-based supportive manner providing re-directions and guidance as necessary.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, program meetings, and staff training as determined by supervisor.
  • Engages, counsels, manages, motivates, and effectively works with high-risk, vulnerable client population, including chemically dependent persons.
Skills/ Requirements
  • High-School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Two years of Substance Abuse Training and/or one year of job related experience preferred. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and conducting Intervention/Prevention services with minority and at-risk preferred.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish or English/Creole preferred
  • Knowledge of community / County resources
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with diverse populations in public settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and meet established deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills required: Microsoft outlook email, office.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Knowledge of basic risk reduction methods
  • Basic individual intervention skills
  • Basic Group facilitation skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to assess changing priorities and competing deadlines is essential.
  • Flexibility and ability to cope with several tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to drive company vehicles (10-12 passenger van) to transport clients to and from appointments, meetings, etc., as needed.
  • Must pass SAMHSA SOAR online course.

Important Notes

Must pass all drug and background screening, including a level 2 federal background and motor vehicle screening.

Hours: Full-time 40/hrs. including rotating holidays.
