Summary:

This Social Worker will work with patients who utilize the Emergency Department of Prosper Medical Center. The Social Worker will provide psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, case management/discharge planning, referral linkage, and emotionally supportive counseling to maintain functional behavior within families.The social worker assesses families for needed assistance with resource procurement that aids the family's efforts in caring for their child and makes referrals to outside agencies for families in need of assistance. Must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and perform administrative tasks. This position requires an assertive person who is able to communicate effectively, have discussions involving difficult topics, problem-solve, and think critically. This position will be available to other floors during the scheduled shift to assist with any social work needs.

Required Education & Experience:

  • MSW or MSSW from an accredited school.

  • Previous experience in hospital or ER setting preferred.

  • Prior experience working with children and their families preferred.

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • Current Texas License for LMSW.

  • Basis Life Support (BLS) Certification for Health Care Providers required within 30 days of employment.
