Job Summary:
The Office of Strategic Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a dynamic visual storyteller for the role of Videographer. This position is responsible for capturing and editing video footage for platforms including social media, the university website, YouTube along with both internal and external storytelling channels. Working with a robust creative team, the Videographer is responsible for developing short and long format videos that bring the overall UW brand narrative to life.
The ideal candidate is creative, versatile, has a strong video production background and can bring compelling content and storytelling to life.
Responsibilities: Plans video production in collaboration with institutional units or a creative team, directs onsite production for events, and/or post-production editing of video and audio to ensure quality production of visual content for institutional/unit projects. May train staff and/or students on equipment and software.
- 20% Operates video equipment to capture events, presentations, performances, or educational activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor settings
- 20% Plans, organizes, and executes video production projects in collaboration with internal work units and stakeholders
- 10% Sets up and maintains all required equipment
- 20% Edits post-production work with various software and technologies according to established objectives
- 10% Shares and/or produces materials on various mediums
- 5% May train, direct, and guide staff or students on specific uses of video equipment and digital software, as needed
- 5% Develops and schedules operational work plans for onsite productions and post-production editing work according to established objectives
- 5% Uses creative and technical skills along with editorial independence, editorial judgement, and journalistic integrity on projects across broadcast and digital platforms
- 5% Serves as subject matter expert in broadcast video and audio standards, and file-based media workflows

Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
- Minimum 3 years related experience (relevant student/internship experience may be considered)
- In-depth knowledge of cameras, lenses, lighting and audio systems
- Proficiency in Adobe software suite
- Demonstrated ability to manage, organize and archive multimedia content
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaborate within a team
PREFERRED:
- Experience working as part of a larger creative team
- Motion graphic experience
- Camera drone experience
- Photography experience a plus

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
