Position Specific Description
The Regional High Voltage Manager II will provide leadership and manage the high voltage team and portfolio of substation assets located in Texas. The ideal candidate will live within 1 hour of a wind or solar asset in Texas and travel as needed to provide support. Manage compliance to maintenance construction specifications, operating standards, and procedures. Manage safety, budgetary and reliable performance of all transmission systems and equipment, including power plant switchyards and generation sites in designated areas. Ensure compliance to the North American Reliability Corporation (NERC), Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), and Protective Relay Coordination (PRC) standards. Promote Six Sigma quality concepts and aid in the development of the technical services team and ROCC System Operators.
Responsibilities-
- Responsible for leading the implementation of reliability maintenance programs and delivering exceptional value and satisfaction to all customers and stakeholders
- Demonstrated strong leadership in leading and directing technical organizations comprising of subject matter experts and accomplished professionals
- Maintains good working knowledge of the electric power grid, regulatory standards, engineering principles on electric industry and the various equipment and components from generation, transmission & substation, and distribution
- Strong safety champion responsible for eliminating/mitigating all safety exposures and assuring a safety culture of zero injuries and vehicle accidents
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with demonstrated experience and excellence in writing technical and/or lab reports for technical customers and senior management
- Responsible for developing a high-performance organization and drives a culture of diversity and inclusion and ensures the highest levels of employee engagement
- Maintains competency in developing and leading component and forensic testing, and utilizing Six Sigma quality tools to identify root cause and drive improvement plans
- Manages cost and supports operational, productivity and cost improvement throughout the business
- Provide direct support to achieve safe, reliable, and regulatory compliant construction, upgrades, troubleshooting and maintenance of protective relaying systems, HV equipment and other substation related equipment.
- Execute, track, and report on maintenance and project progress.
- Ensure compliance to NERC, TRE and ERCOT reliability standards, as well as company guidelines and protocols for station equipment.
- Ensure compliance to construction specifications, operating standards, and procedures
The ideal candidates will embody the following attributes
- Possesses either a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or has accumulated six years of equivalent experience in a related field.
- At least five years of hands-on experience in leading field services operations, preferably substation or transmission
- Proficiency in collaborating effectively within a complex organizational structure and across all levels of the Company
- Strong executive presentation skills
- Certification as a Six Sigma green belt or a comparable quality assurance qualification
- Proficient in network infrastructure, communication protocols, and web technology
- Established track record of managing profit and loss responsibilities
- Exceptional analytical capabilities and a track record of thriving in cross-functional and team-oriented environments.
Job Overview
Employees in this role manage the operations and maintenance of Generation Tie Lines, Substations and Collection systems that deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective electricity for NextEra Energy Resources' Power Generation Division renewable and fossil generating fleet. This role will have leader and individual contributor direct reports with various levels experience and knowledge across multiple states/countries.
